Bagua Shen Gong
I am honored to be a student of the Wu Family Chinese Healing Arts of BaguaZhang, a form of Shen Gong, or Heart Spirit Energy Work. The birthplace of Bagua is in the mystical mountains of KunLun in Tibet. In the cosmology of this art, the teachings were transmitted through Goddess Quan Yin, who came down from the heavens on a chariot. Bagua evolved from Tibetan Bon Shamanism and is a magical dance of vortexes, played in physical poetry and woven on a circle.
In this sacred tradition, the sixty-four movements and changes of Bagua are understood symbolically as mirrors of the sixty-four archetypal patterns of existence described in the I Ching. The eight trigrams represent the primordial forces of Nature and the pathways through which life moves within the body and the world.
Together they form a living mandala of Daoist wisdom — a poetic language through which the Tao reveals itself in movement, polarity, and transformation. In this way, Bagua is held as a prayer in motion, inviting practitioners to embody harmony, presence, and the deep remembering of their place within the greater field of life.
Mastery of Vortexes
You are invited to enter the Dragon Gate — a sacred threshold where heart and mind come into harmony through movement, breath, and devotion.
Within this Daoist and shamanic practice, teachings are shared through story, symbol, and embodied prayer, inviting remembrance of the subtle forces that move through the human spirit.
Through circular walking, meditative movement, and sacred geometry, practitioners are welcomed into resonance with the rhythms of Heaven and Earth.
In this way, the body becomes a living vessel of transformation, where shadow and light are held in reverence and gently offered back to the greater field of harmony.
“When the mastery of vortexes is accomplished with the oldest traditional practice, it becomes a beautiful dance of vortexes called Baguazhang, coiling and uncoiling with the Tao originating from Wu Chi.”
— Sifu Christopher Lee Matsuo, Dragon Gate Sanctuary
